How to innovate processes

Published about 1 year ago • 1 min read

Hi Reader,

No worries, I’m not turning into a life(style) coach. But in some points I agree with this way of thinking: from time to time, it’s necessary to break out of your comfort zone and push yourself to do things you normally don’t do.

In my case, for example, it was a day at the beach in Sehlendorf on the Baltic coast last summer. I had set myself the goal of jumping into the Baltic Sea early in the morning at sunrise. But when I heard the alarm at 5:00 am, I just wanted to turn over in my bed - but I pushed myself to get up and a few minutes later go into the still really cold Baltic Sea. As you can see in the picture below I was successful 💪🏼

But why am I even talking about this? In the latest episode of New Process Podcast I had the chance to talk about the huge topic of process innovation with Nelson Inno from weSpark. In the conversation, he shared his advices to process owners to innovate processes with us, for a once in a lifetime - not on a regular - basis. Feel free to check out the latest blogpost on NewProcessLab.com for that.

Furthermore he shared his top recommendations about finding innovative solutions to problems:

  1. Try out as much as possible: learn, build, play, craft - to acquire new skills ✍🏻
  2. Be curious and inform yourself about the latest trends (and listen to your favorite podcast 🙂)
  3. Surround yourself with the right people and build yourself a network of innovative people 👥
  4. Say yes to something you would normally not do and sometimes push yourself out of the comfort zone

And what should I say? That day turned out to one of my most inspiring days. After grabbing my breakfast from a bakery, I started with a strategy thinking for NewProcessLab.com and it really helped me going my next steps. With writing these sentences, I realize that I should do it again soon 🤔

I really love the topic of processes innovation because processes, and especially human-centric related ones, really should be open for new ideas and new innovations - no matter if it is for businesses, for employees or for yourself. New subjects can bring good feedback into processes which can help improving it for sure. So I hope to get into that topic more and more in the future.

Feel free to listen to the latest episode of the New Process Podcast, and maybe you have some process innovation advice to share - so we can talk about it in an upcoming episode? 🚀

Thank you very much for reading.

Have a great day!
Mirko

Hi Reader, Can you remember the last time you started a new project, turned a bright idea into reality or maybe even started your own business? If you're nodding yes, then you know the thrill of starting something new - and the mountain of to-do's that comes with it. One of the greatest challenges I've faced is the art of starting simple and progressing incrementally - the philosophy of the Minimum Viable Product (MVP). It still happens to me today that in my burst of motivation I want to do...

Hi Reader, Can you believe it's already November? Time does fly! 😳 I'd like to ask for a small favor that could make a big difference: As in the past two years, I've put together a brief survey to identify the BPM topics of 2024, and I'd love for you to participate.Because our community is such an important part of this journey, it is only logical that I collect your current thoughts and concerns:→ to get a better understanding of what BPM topics are important to you.→ to tailor the content...

Hi Reader, Expanding on the last newsletter, I'd like to stress the importance of interacting with other BPM enthusiasts. It's easy to recognize when someone is genuinely enthusiastic and deeply interested in a subject. In my opinion, this enthusiasm is what really drives us forward, especially in the research world. 🚀 Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of having meaningful conversations with a lot of passionate people. These discussions not only lead to fresh ideas and inspiration...
